Across the street from San Antonio’s Majestic and Empire theatres, Hotel Valencia Riverwalk offers solitude. This quiet getaway has become a prime stop for celebrities, which is exactly why you’ll find the 10-foot-tall Orange Grove display in the lobby. On its shelves sit the autographs of more than 100 stars, musicians, politicians, and comedians who have stayed at the hotel. But why are the signatures on hand-blown glass oranges? The lifelike sculptures by local glassblower Gini Garcia pay homage to Valencia, Spain, the hotel’s namesake and a city known for its oranges.
